Cracked back glass on a Samsung or iPhone? Why it matters, how it is replaced, and the colour question.
Back glass cracks are the repair people put off the longest because the phone still works. Here is why we recommend fixing it sooner rather than later, and what the repair actually involves on Samsung Galaxy and iPhone.

Why cracked back glass is not just cosmetic
- Water and dust resistance is gone. The seal is broken, so a splash that used to be harmless can reach the board.
- The shards keep spreading and will eventually cut a finger or snag in a pocket.
- The camera lens is often part of, or next to, the back glass; a crack travelling into it ruins photos.
- Wireless charging coils sit right behind the glass and can be damaged by loose fragments.
How the repair is done
The old glass is heated so the adhesive releases, lifted in pieces, and every fragment of glass and old glue is cleaned from the frame. On iPhone 8 through 14 the glass is bonded to the frame, so we use a laser or careful heat to separate it without touching the components underneath. The new panel is fitted with fresh adhesive and pressed so it sits flush and seals.
On most Samsung Galaxy models the back is a separate panel over the battery; the camera lens glass is replaced at the same time if it cracked.
Matching your colour
We stock back glass by model and colour, so your phone goes back to the way it looked: Midnight, Starlight, Graphite, Sierra Blue, Natural Titanium and the rest. If you would rather change colour, that is possible on many models too.
How long it takes
Most back glass replacements take about an hour and are done the same day. iPhones with bonded glass can take a little longer because of the cleaning step.
Quick answers
Can I keep using the phone with cracked back glass?
It works, but water resistance is gone and the shards spread. A case keeps it safe until you can bring it in.
Do you have my colour?
We stock back glass by model and colour for current and recent iPhone and Galaxy models. Tell us the model and colour when you book.
Will it still charge wirelessly?
Yes. We check the charging coil during the repair and test wireless charging before you leave.
How long does back glass replacement take?
About an hour for most phones, same day.
